Boltyn Hero Primer
Boltyn is a Light Warrior that has the ability to go wide or go tall pretty efficiently with whatever the hand presents. The goal of the deck is to load up our hero’s soul as efficient as we can and we definitely have some ideal targets to put there in our decklist.
The strongest way to start our attacks is with Take Flight.
Take Flight is going to be an efficient way to go a little wide and load up our soul. I wouldnt recommend Using our blue Take flight for attacking, and saving that for our Pitching later on. Ideally using Blue Take Flight when we need to pitch in order to get a massive turn with our Weapon in addition to another attack or pump. A Great charge Target for us is always going to be Banneret of Vigor but dont be afraid to charge something else too if we really need to. I would avoid charging Battlefield blitz because we really want to chain that with Take flight when we can.
Beaming Bravado is a great One-Two Punch card with our Hero ability. It’s a 0 Cost that pumps itself so it gets our hero ability online and ready to extend our chain. When we charge with this we are always looking to remove the card we put under our hero to go again.
I have been running Beaming Blade in this deck and it chains really well with a properly executed Beaming Bravado for free and go again and can lead to a devastating turn or a complete tempo change.
We can also activate our Beaming Blade with our Halo of Illumination too if we are trying to keep a strong hand as best we can. Should the opportunity present itself to Pitch one of our four blues to load up a yellow soul and draw we should take it. Pitch for 1 to activate Halo, throw yeloow under Hero soul, use remaining 2 to swing with sword and we have plenty of ways to give it go again. Either using the card loaded up with hero soul, if hit use refraction bolters, or if we can use our gallantry gold equipment.
There will be few opportunities to go tall with this deck. While we dont run many pumps, the two we run are 0 Cost and yes have some Caveats with them, but those are the focal point of the deck and hsould be easy to meet.
At the end of the day Boltyn is a fun hero to learn on and has some great potential to pull out some wins. Some players believe that the Charge Mechanic of this hero is an inherent disadvantage and that may be true, but theres still a lot to enjoy with this hero and he can be very rewarding. Below is a link to the Decklist that I am currently running for Project Blue.
